Summer is Here!

By Kamlyn Jurgensen June 5, 2015
It's June and that means most of us are about to launch into a summer full of sprinklers, barbecues, freezer pops and breaks from alarm clocks and routine. It is a wonderful time of year. The break really gives you the chance to relax and recharge after the long winter, homework sessions and after school activities. I for one can't wait to have my feet dangling over the edge of a dock into some water.

Summer can bring a few challenges with it - boredom is enemy #1. On the days that there isn't a lot going on make sure to take advantage of the frugal summer fun options I have listed HERE. Stay on top of your area's fun by making sure to follow your local Macaroni Kid edition. They'll be able to point you in the direction of family-friendly fun that won't break the bank.

School's out, but that doesn't mean it's time to stop learning. I recently read What's the Deal with Teens and Time Management? It was a straight shooting approach to parenting kids and giving them the tools they need to succeed in life. Find the review HERE. There is also a promo code if you wanted to nab the book for yourself.

About 1/3 of military children relocate this time of year - PCS season. It can be a hard transition for them, but there are a few things you can do to help them through this tough time. Read Staying in Touch After a PCS to make the move a little easier.

Summer fun means we all need to chip in and do the household chores so we can leave the house to take advantage of all the happenings in our area. Use this free chore chart and chore suggestions to get your littles to start helping out around the house.

Airshows are in full swing now. Find one near you HERE

We want to announce the first overseas edition, Macaroni Kid Okinawa. Lakesha Cole, a Marine Corps spouse and business owner, is the Publisher Mom of Okinawa. If you have friends or family serving over there, please let them know about the new edition.

As always,
Peace Love & Macaroni
