Many mil spouse moms meet and make some of their best friends at playgroups in the towns in which their hubands are stationed.  Some remain friends even after the next set of orders roll in, and some take it a step further and become business partners.  Such is the story of Kim Lomeli and Silviya Schimenti, mil spouses, stay-at-home-moms, fast friends and business partners who make Mom’s Shopping Engine a unique alternative to the business of baby item shopping.

These techno savvy shopper moms invite users to avoid the ...

CHAPS Home for Kids

Mil Mom Tested and PCS Approved

Full disclosure, I avoid negative comments like a Mercedes avoids NASCAR.  If a friend screams “Don’t you just love it?” when I walk into a room painted like a large blue whale, I might answer “You sure do have an eye for color,” or “Blue whales are such majestic creatures.” Keeping that in mind, you’ll understand why I wanted to see Chaps’ new children’s bedding line before I committed to writing about it.  I am pleased to say “It’s all that and more!”

As a gal ...

Finding Peace in Purging at PCS Time

It's that time of the year again.  Some military families are facing moves, maybe a grown child has moved out or your kids have outgrown their toys.  Like it or not...it’s time to spring clean.  The old idea that if you haven't used it in one year -- toss it, is easy to say - not so easy to do.  Getting the kids on board is even harder.  However, every year it is part of our ritual.

With the post-wide yard sale looming just around the corner, I ...

Celebrate Moving with A Cake

“Are we going to walk to our new house in Virginia?”  Franny asks.
“No -- hoho.” I say and she laughs with me.
“Are we going to ride our bikes to Virginia?” she inquires.
“No.  It’s too far.”  I reply.  “Actually, sweetie, we’re going to drive to our new house in Virginia.  It will take a lot of nights and days.  We will drive for at least eight days and sometimes nights.”

“That’s a long time.” Franny ponders,  “We’re going to sleep in the car?”

“Yes, we ...
