T.A. for Military Kids

Review and Giveaway

By Kamlyn Jurgensen July 4, 2014
Military kids are extraordinary. They are resilient, adaptable and self-sacrificing. Sometimes they are so busy being great kids, we forget to help them talk about what they are feeling, especially when things are changing at home.

T.A. for Military Kids: The Awesome Military Kid's Guide to Feelings, by Leslie Nelson, is a book created to help you engage your child in conversations about their feelings. The book uses lots of questions to guide your conversation with your child. Nelson uses descriptions the kids will understand like Cold Pricklies and Warm Fuzzies to give kids the terminology they need to get their message across.

Nelson also explains to the child that whatever they are feeling, it is okay. We all have days of feeling happy and sad, mad or lonely. The message is clear...these feelings are normal. She also explains how to find someone to talk to about the way they feel.

This book empowers kids to be who they are and to accept how they are feeling. To find out more about the book and for more resources, visit www.taformilitarykids.com
