There are times in life when you just need or want help. Having a new baby is one of those times. Having a new baby and a deployed or wounded spouse is definitely one of those times! That’s when a call to Mission: Sleep is in order. Mission Sleep is the nonprofit arm of Let Mommy Sleep, a company that provides nurses for overnight care for moms and newborns.
Mission Sleep provides up to five nights of newborn care for military families between the hours of 10PM and 7AM. The care is provided on a first come, first served basis by a qualified nurse. “Mission Sleep will provide a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Post-Partum Unit Medical Technician to come into the home of a new mom and provide overnight care and education to that family.”
Full care is given during these visits to include diapering, bathing as needed, feeding, changing linens and lots more. This will all be documented for the family, too. If you are a nursing mother, a lactation specialist can help you become more comfortable with this experience. Your nurses are chosen for your needs.
Currently, this great service is only provided to military families living in the metro DC, Northern Virginia and Baltimore area. To be qualified, the infant must be under four months old and the baby’s father must be deployed or wounded. To find out more about this program visit www.missionsleep.org.
