Constant Contact
Keeping the Connection and Family Bond Strong
Last month we introduced Constant Contact, a new regular feature on Macaroni Military Family. Based on suggestions from you and from neat ideas we come across, we'll share a variety of products, apps, and services available to help your military family keep the connection strong during separations.
It's not uncommon to find a slew of framed family photos and photo scrapbooks displayed throughout when you visit the home of military family. And if you have preschoolers, using photos is an easy way to reinforce family connections.
That's why we like Zatswho™. Cute, soft, portable, and colorful ... Zatswho™ is an educational photo recognition memory flash card set that teaches your little ones (of all abilities) shapes, colors and family members. Zatswho™ comes in it's own washable tote bag and contains six foamy frames, each a different color and displaying a symbolic shape. The shapes were chosen to keep the family in mind: love of family, a heart; circle of life, a circle; looking to the future, a star. Simply insert a 3X5 photo in each frame and let the learning and connections begin.
Your smaller child can interact with Zatswho™ by naming family members through photo face recognition, matching those who live together, creating a story line as they flip through the photos, and by associating roles with photos, ie: "Daddy is in the Army." or "Mommy works on the big boat." Children can use the flash cards to learn colors and shapes as well. Older children will connect with Zatswho™ ... practice spelling the name of the person in the photo, look at the picture and recall the person's birthday, say the frame color and make up a rhyme, look at the photo and fill in the blank, "I love ______ because ...." or "This is __________ and she is in _____________." The possibilities and connections are endless!
