I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving! Every year, no matter what our plans are, I always think back to the first Thanksgiving my husband and I spent as a married couple. He was TDY at Camp Hansen in Okinawa, and I flew over to visit at the halfway point, which happened to be Thanksgiving. We bought the essentials at the PX, did the best we could to cook in the efficiency kitchen in his BOQ room (I specifically remember carving the turkey with a knife that was missing its tip), and we sat to eat the meal on a cardboard box table. And you know what, it's one of the sweetest Thanksgivings I can remember!

Now everyone's gearing up for Christmas, and while I'm not usually one to decorate early, I can't help but start burning my pine-scented candle and playing the Christmas CDs. I hope you're able to enjoy your families this season - by physically being together with your families, or by celebrating your traditions from opposite sides of the globe. To those of you with a loved one on deployment for the holidays, I know what that feels like, and I'm rooting for you! It might not feel "normal," but it can still be good. You've got this!

This month we have some good tips for you about getting financially fit in 2017, some info from a Key Spouse about what that program is about, as well as new faces in our "Salute to Mom" and "I Love It Here" features. Check those out!

Last but not least - please share Macaroni Kid with your friends, family, colleagues, associates, Moms groups, on-base organizations, off-base communities, etc. The more people we have, the more vibrant this community will be!

Cheers!
