Happy Independence Day!

A Letter from the Managing Editor

July 1, 2016
Wow! July is here and that means most of us are in the middle of summer vacation. It's a great time for fireworks, pools and barbecues. This summer is even better than usual for me, because my daughter and her husband just got back from a three-year tour in Okinawa.

Instead of my usual letter to you all, I asked my daughter what helped her through her move. Here's her list:
  1. Make a list! Really, make lots of them.
  2. Keep a binder or accordion file to keep lists, paperwork and documents handy.
  3. Communicate with your partner often. There are lots of moving parts (pun intended) during a move and keeping up with each other's schedules, required meetings, and paperwork is a lot of work.
  4. Check Sarge's List for your PCS. They have a free booklet with a timeline to make your move easier.
  5. If you have pets, make sure to keep enough money aside to pay for an animal transport service if the need arises.
As you may have guessed, we are thrilled to have them back in the U.S. and much closer to us.

This month's newsletter is filled with tips for containing clutter, summer safety, reading programs, how to make the move easier on the kids and a personal story from a male military spouse

Happy Independence Day!

Until next month,
