Military Spouses and Moms Honored with a Mother's Day Brunch

By Kamlyn Jurgensen June 3, 2016
It was such an honor to be included in this year's annual Military Mother's Day Brunch at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC. There were more than 400 people there to honor the 100 active duty military moms and their families. This is the third event that the Marriott Marquis has done in partnership with the Association of the United State Army (AUSA) to honor military moms.

Guest speakers were LTG Patricia McQuistion, USA retired and Natasha Harth, who had just been named 2016 Military Spouse of the Year.

McQuistion closed her remarks with "All moms rock...but military moms rock-and-roll".

There was also a video message for the kids from Sesame Street. Everyone in the room could appreciate the words of love and encouragement they gave to all of us.

The brunch buffet was terrific with waffle and omelet stations, pastries, fruit and lots more to tempt the taste buds.
There were craft areas set up in the back so kids could make cards, color or decorate their own sugar cookies.

This was an event put together with families in mind, the speeches were short and simple, the food was ready immediately and the atmosphere was casual so families could get to know one another and there was no stress trying to keep kids quiet and in line.

Every mom walked away with a flower and a goody bag, too. It was the perfect way to end an event to honor moms.
