Patriotic Crafts for Kids

Sunshine is making its way out of the clouds, the temperatures are slowly rising and the aroma of barbecue grills start to permeate through the neighborhood. What is more fun than getting together with those we love to enjoy the weather and celebrate our country! Here are some frugal and fun crafts/projects to enjoy with your family to celebrate the good ol’ USA. 

Firecracker Rings 

What you’ll need:
6 Sparkly Red, White and Blue Pipe Cleaners 

Directions:
1. Cut the pipe cleaners in half and divide them into two piles.
2. Make a loop to fit small fingers and twist them to secure them together.
3. Have fun twisting and bending the ends to create the shape of fireworks.
4. Enjoy your sparkly creation!



Patriotic Windsock 

What You’ll Need:
Various red, white and blue construction paper/cardstock 
Patriotic colored markers, pencils and/or crayons
American flag, stars, and fireworks stickers 
Red, white or blue curling ribbon
Red, white or blue pipe cleaner 
Scissors 
Stapler


Directions:
1. Decorate your paper.
2. Roll the paper into a cylinder and secure with a stapler, glue or tape.
3. Tape or glue curling ribbon to the inside to create a streamer effect.
4. Poke holes into each side of the top.
5. Create a hanger with the pipe cleaner, making sure to curl each side of the pipe cleaner to secure it in place. 
6. Hang from a tree branch, nail, or string.
7. Watch your beautiful creation blow in the summer air!
