10 Ways to Get Your 10K Steps In!

By Heather Bouwhuizen July 3, 2015
We all know we need to move more, but it can be hard some days. Here are 10 easy way to help you get your 10,000 steps in everyday.
  1. Walk circles in your house (my path is through my kitchen, into the dining room, front hallway, family room - then repeat!)
  2. Do a Walk Away the Pounds video. The lady on the video is kind of silly, but her 4 mile walk + normal activities = 10K steps.
  3. Walk your dog!
  4. Pace (or dance!) when making dinner.
  5. Make a treadmill desk. (My husband did this. Don't knock it 'til you try it.)
  6. Meet a friend, and go for a walk! Friend therapy and exercise. It's a great combo.
  7. Walk around the mall, Target or Walmart. (Try not to shop!)
  8. Walk to close locations (pool, playground, library)
  9. Set alarms on your Fitbit or other device to go off every hour. When you hear the alarm, go walk 1,000 steps.
  10. Compete with a friend. There's nothing like a friendly competition to get you off your butt!!
Thanks for reading! Here's a little bit more about me. I'm a stay-at-home mom of six children, three dogs, and four cats. I am also a military wife. I love to quilt and sew when the house finally quiets down. I have been sewing for many, many years. I've been quilting for about 6 years, and I've had my business for four. I enjoy writing quilting patterns, and hope to share many more with you soon! I currently home school five of my six children. Two of my six children have Celiac Disease, so we are also gluten free household. I hope to share my adventures in home school, quilting and Celiac Disease through my blog.
