MacDill AFB, FL

We have been an Air Force family for almost 8 years now. Our first 2 years were pretty rough as we lost our first son when he was just 10 days old. Our military family stepped right up and showed us so much love. Soon after, we welcomed our rainbow baby, another son (now 5) and then a daughter (now 3). We have survived many PCS's, deployments, and TDY's. The Air Force has been great to us!

What do you like about military life?

I have grown to love being in a new location every couple of years, and all the great friends we make in each place. I hope that our children will be able to look back and have great memories of their experiences in the different places they have lived.

What do you not like so much?

I would have to say the times that my husband has to be away from us, and not being close to immediate family. It definitely can be hard sometimes, but when you build up a great support system of military family - friends that become family - you can get through anything.

Do you have special talents/hobbies? How do you spend your time?

Since we've been here, I've started working again and writing my own blog. I make sure to keep myself and the kids active outside the home. We enjoy play dates and the many kid-friendly activities in our area.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself as a successful mom, wife and business owner.

What's the most rewarding part of your life?

The most rewarding part of my life would have to be just seeing how much of an impact I make in the lives of my husband and children. They mean the world to me.

What's the most challenging part?

The most challenging part is those days when you just aren't feeling it. I can't lie and say I don't have those days, but you learn to pick yourself up and just get things done.

How would you say being part of a military family shapes you?

It has definitely shown me just how strong I am. You have to be strong in this lifestyle!

What has surprised you about military life?

How many helpful resources there are. I really had no idea what military life was like coming into it.

What advice or encouragement can you share?

Take life as it comes, don't stress, ask for help, and use your resources.
