My husband and I have been married for five years. We have two amazing children, ages 3 and 5. My husband has been serving in the US Army for a little over 12 years now! He is currently attached to a unit out of Devens, MA. He started as a medic but is now in schooling for military intelligence.

What do you like about military life?

I love the sense of pride it instills in our family for our country and seeing how selfless my husband is - serving for us and our country!

What do you not like so much?

The time my husband has to be away from us.

How do you like to spend your time?

As a family, we love to spend our time being active together - camping, running and finding new adventures! Personally, I love scrapbooking and documenting all the fun, new things we do!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully, with a new home, with my husband retired from the military, and enjoying our future!

What's the most rewarding part of your life?

Seeing how proud our kids are of my husband, and seeing how much they appreciate what he sacrifices not just for them but for our whole country.

What's the most challenging part?

Realizing that at times the entire country comes before you and your family. His sacrifice isn't just for us, it's for this entire nation.

How would you say being part of a military family shapes you?

It has made me very grateful; grateful for the fact that he hasn't been sent overseas, and that we get more time with him than we do without. It has made me realize how very, very lucky we are to live in this country and have all of these amazing men and women standing before us, sacrificing for us and defending us!

What has surprised you about military life?

The amount of waiting you do!

What advice or encouragement can you share?

Hang in there, it will pass, and you can do it!
