Take Plain School Supplies & Personalize Them

By Kamlyn Jurgensen August 5, 2016
It's that time of year when school supplies go on sale! YAY!

As a frugal mom, I am always seeking the best deals and the cheapest price tag - period. For my kids, that means the plain folders, notebooks, composition books and binders.

This type of shopping creates the opportunity to personalize their newly purchased goodies with some flair using washi tape, stickers, printables and more. I even had one kid personalize her binder using Starburst wrappers. The sky's the limit when they have a blank canvas to work with.

If going plain is an issue for your family, another strategy I employed was "one special item". Although, 99% of what I bought the kids was plain the kids were each allowed to buy one item that they loved. That might be the glittery binder with kittens on it or the superhero backpack, but whatever they chose, it did ease the frustration of not getting to buy everything they wanted.

Here are a few crafty ideas to get the kids (and you) started.

These washi tape notebooks and pencils from Lia Griffith will show your child's dazzling personality and set their supplies apart from the norm. All you need it a little time and creativity. Find out how to make them HERE
I love how quick and easy washi tape bookmarks are.
