May Blooms With Moms on a Mission

Plus Deals For The Military

By Kamlyn Jurgensen May 10, 2013

May seems to be the real difference between winter and summer. Mother's Day and Memorial Day activities kick off the summer season with barbeques and family get-togethers. In this month's issue there are a few articles just for mom. The Stroller Warriors story is extremely motivating and those moms have walked, run, jogged and supported each other across the nation and overseas. I hope you'll consider joining or starting one at your installation. I also encourage each of you to take off the supermom cape and accept being just mom, because that is the best way to make you and your family happy. Plus, it takes a ton of pressure off of us to compete with one another and who needs more pressure?

This month I've also highlighted two organizations that help families. If you are lucky enough to live in the National Capital region then Let Mommy Sleep's nonprofit Mission: Sleep may help you out if you have a newborn and deployed spouse. The other organization is Operation: Military Kids which provides camps throughout the country for military kids. They have a camp for every age group and interest.

Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day are the last two weeks in May. Parades and ceremonies will be plentiful, and there are also some discounts to grab. Make sure to call ahead to any business advertising a deal, just to make sure they are participating.

Happy May!!
