- All you artists! Front and center! The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) is still taking submissions for their Call for the Arts: The Art of Being a Military Child contest. Submit your entry no later than February 25th, 2012. Suggested subject matter includes: transitions, teachers/school, military lifestyle, life lessons, wishes/hopes/dreams, and parents/family. Entries may include drawings, film, short stories, and poetry. Winning entries will be utilized in MCEC publications and materials for conferences and other activities. Military children K-12 and those children connected to the military are encouraged to participate. Click here for details.
- Commissaries offer Scholarship Opportunities! Over the past 11 years, The Scholarships for Military Children Program has awarded more than $9 million in scholarships! The program is funded through the generosity of manufacturers and suppliers whose products are sold at military commissaries, worldwide. Giving you yet another reason to visit your local commissary regularly -- where you can save more than 30% on the products you purchase! Scholarships awarded (at least one $1500 scholarship per participating commissary) provides payment of tuition, books, lab fees and other expenses. Click here to learn more. - Wings over America Foundation provides college scholarships to dependent spouses and children of all US Navy -- officer and enlisted, active duty, retired or deceased who served within the Naval Air Forces.
