A Holiday Affair

Tips for dressing for those holiday parties

By Lauren Becker December 5, 2014
Well, well, well. It’s that time of year again! The holiday season is upon us. And along with the great questions of the season (you know, along the lines of “How many apples do I have to eat to cancel out the calories I just consumed in this cookie?” and “What the heck do I get my fiance’s sister’s boyfriend for Christmas?”) is “What do I wear?!”

But seriously. WHAT DO I WEAR?!?!?!

These pictures will be plastered all over Facebook, Instagram, and the like. This, friends, is no joking matter. And as I search high and low for my party dress - one that will be appropriate for my husband’s work party AND the New Year’s Eve shindig with friends - I am inspired to share. All the dresses pictured are $100 or less, except for the “splurge” and the “black-tie affair.”

for the pear shape

for the hourglass

for the apple shape

for the straight figure

for the black-tie affair

for the timeless

for the risky

for the splurge

for the thrifty

Some of these are labeled as being for a specific body type, but that doesn’t mean that is the only shape for which the dress could be flattering! It just means that it would be a great idea for that shape. So if you like another shape’s dress, try on something with the same “bones” and see if it’s a great fit for you! Additionally, if this isn’t your style and you need help searching I’ll give you my favorite tip: GOOGLE! In the google search bar, enter whatever you’re searching for (like “sequined mini dress with sleeves”) and then click enter. Once it displays your results, select the “shopping” tab near the top. It will bring up a myriad of options under that search heading. That is always my first step.

So there you have it! May this perhaps help answer your questions and take some stress off of the holiday season. Clinky-drinky, friends. To you and yours.

XOXO,
Lauren
