Support for Moving Stress

By militaryonesource.mil April 4, 2014
Moving is always stressful, but the degree of stress can vary greatly from person to person. Some cope well and adjust quickly, while others may take months or even longer to fully adapt to a new environment. Sometimes, moving stress can impact your ability to fully concentrate on your military duties. Don't let stress get the best of you or your family - take advantage of these programs to get information, tools and support.

Family Service Centers can provide service members and their families with the additional support they need during a move. Center staff can evaluate individuals and refer them to the appropriate support services and programs. Family Service Centers are listed below and contact information for each installation is available at MilitaryINSTALLATIONS.
Military OneSource (MOS) offers these services to assist service members and their families with everyday stressors:
  • Short-term counseling. MOS can refer a service member or family member for short-term counseling with a civilian provider within the community for up to twelve counseling sessions per person, per issue.
  • Telephonic and online consultations. For those unable to attend face-to-face counseling, MOS also arranges consultations by phone and online.
You can contact Military OneSource by phone, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Call stateside at 1-800-342-9647, or visit the Military OneSource website for specific dialing information for other countries.
