February is traditionally known as a month of romance and love, and I for one, use it as that. I don't mean just going out on Valentine's Day, but using the entire month to show my husband, kids and friends how much they mean to me. I do this by sending cards and gifts to my nieces and nephew; making sure to compliment my husband more often or thank him for being a great dad, supportive spouse, a listener, a motivator and lots more; and setting time aside to go out with my children individually and calling or visiting my friends. Overall, I guess I use this month to be more intentional in my relationships and it really pays off. I hope you can do something similar.
In this month's Macaroni Military Family, we highlight Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and all the great things it has to offer families, including a beach. Please share the article if you know anyone getting stationed there soon. I would love to highlight your base, too. If you would like to contribute as part of our "5 Things I Love About My Base" please email me at kamlynj@macaronikid.com.
We've got a cute craft project that will transform a toy into a piece of art. Don't miss DIY: Dinosaur Planters if you are looking to add a pop of color to an area.
We couldn't let Valentine's Day come and go without featuring a couple of sweet treats. One is healthy and the other, hmmm, well, not so much, but it tastes so good I had to share.
As always, we have some money matters articles for you. Financing a college education is something many parents have to think about early on in their parenting journey and we've got some great tips to help you out. February 22-27, 2016, is Military Saves week. This week is all about paying yourself first. Find out more about taking the pledge at Military Saves Week 2016 - Meet the Challenge in Three Steps.
Here's to a February filled with love and laughter, family and friends!
Until next month,
Kamlyn
